The BeoSound Century is one of Bang & Olufsen's most elegantly resolved designs — a wall-mountable, all-in-one music system by David Lewis that combines CD, cassette, FM radio, and AM radio into a single slim cabinet barely 11cm deep. Introduced in 1993 and awarded the Danish Design Centre's IP Prize in 1994, its glass sliding door opens on proximity to a hand, and its backlit laser-engraved buttons illuminate only the controls relevant to the current function. There are no external amplifiers and no external speakers: the cabinet contains two active two-way loudspeakers with independent Class G amplifiers for bass and treble, an electronic crossover, and Adaptive Bass Linearisation — a complete, self-contained stereo system in a single piece. Type 2652 is the UK market variant, which adds AM reception (Long Wave and Medium Wave) alongside the FM stereo tuner — a more capable unit than the FM-only variants. It is supplied here with the original Active FM Handle, which doubles as a carrying handle and houses the active FM antenna for optimal FM reception wherever the system is placed. The AM loop antenna is also included. The system can be wall-mounted, placed on a shelf, or used on a tabletop stand.
This example is in stunning overall condition — very well cared for, with clean presentable cloth covers free of holes or tears, and minimal cosmetic wear for its age. CDs play flawlessly and the cassette deck has been tested and operates smoothly. Some wear is present on the rear of the unit — please inspect all listing images closely before purchasing.
