The BeoLab 12-3 is the flagship of Bang & Olufsen's BeoLab 12 wall-speaker family, and one of the most powerful active wall-mount speakers the company has produced. Designed by David Lewis Designers and launched in 2012, its sinuous, elongated aluminium form was inspired by the mathematical curve of a sine wave — appearing impossibly thin from the side, yet housing a full four-driver, three-way active speaker system with 480W of ICEpower Class D amplification. At 942mm tall, the BeoLab 12-3 is a genuinely imposing loudspeaker that commands the wall it occupies. The White/Aluminium finish makes these among the most elegant-looking B&O speakers to come to market — a clean, gallery-quality object that disappears into a light interior while delivering serious acoustic performance. Each speaker runs four drivers: two 180mm CosCone flat woofers in a sealed 2-litre bass enclosure powered by 2×160W, a 50mm aluminium-cone midrange in its own sealed 0.2-litre chamber with 80W, and a 20mm coated-fabric dome tweeter with 80W — topped by B&O's Acoustic Lens Technology, which disperses the high-frequency output in a full 180-degree horizontal arc. Dual-band Adaptive Bass Linearisation continuously monitors and adapts the bass response in real time. A rear three-position switch — wall, free, or corner — adjusts the acoustic tuning to the physical placement. The woofers fire rearwards against the wall when wall-mounted, using the surface as a baffle for controlled bass dispersion. When used with the floor stands (as here), the free-position setting activates digital bass enhancement to compensate.
This is a matched pair in great overall condition, complete with the original matching floor stands — which are rare and hard to find separately. There are some light marks on the aluminium, as is typical for used speakers of this type; please inspect all listing images closely. The floor stands make this a uniquely versatile offering: wall-mounted or free-standing, these speakers perform superbly in either configuration.
