The Beomaster 6500 is the control centre and powerhouse of the Beosystem 6500, B&O's flagship stacking hi-fi system of the early 1990s. Designed by Jacob Jensen and introduced in 1989, it succeeded the Beomaster 5500 with one critical update: the addition of PowerLink output sockets, enabling direct connection to BeoLab active speakers for the first time in this line. This made the 6500 the first Beomaster to take full advantage of B&O's then-new amplified loudspeaker ecosystem, which included the BeoLab Penta, BeoLab 8000, and BeoLab 6000. As the audio master of the Beosystem 6500, the Beomaster handles FM/LW/MW tuning with up to 20 presets, a full preamplifier and 2×110W power amplifier stage, built-in RIAA phono amplification, and the central switching for all Beosystem sources — Beogram CD 6500, BeoCord 6500 cassette, and Beogram 6500 turntable. Automatic Power Handling Control protects both amplifier and loudspeakers against overload at any volume. Connection to a B&O video system for full AV integration is supported via the 7-pin AUX Audio Link socket, and the unit connects to link rooms via its Master Control Link outputs.
