The Beosound Edge is one of Bang & Olufsen's most audacious and technically remarkable products — a circular disc speaker designed in collaboration with architect Michael Anastassiades, drawing visual inspiration from the British pound coin. Standing on its edge like a coin resting at rest, or mounted flat against a wall like a gallery clock, it is as much a piece of functional sculpture as it is a loudspeaker. Behind the polished aluminium ring and black fabric grilles lie five drivers powered by six Class D amplifiers delivering 800 watts in total. The 10-inch dual-coil woofer is supported by B&O's patented Active Bass Port — a mechanically widening aperture that opens progressively as volume increases, shifting the cabinet from a sealed box to a ported design mid-play for bass that adjusts to the demands of the music. Four 100W amplifiers independently drive two 4-inch midrange drivers and two ¾-inch tweeters on the front face. Drivers fire from both sides of the disc simultaneously, or can be directed to a single side via the B&O app's Directional Sound Control for zoned listening in open-plan spaces. Interaction is equally distinctive: rolling the aluminium ring back or forth adjusts the volume — gently for small increments, firmly for sweeping changes. A proximity sensor wakes the speaker as you approach. Streaming covers AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Bluetooth 4.2, and DLNA, with wired Ethernet and a combo analogue/digital line-in for any source. Fully Beolink Multiroom compatible for whole-home B&O audio integration.
