Bang & Olufsen's soundbar range spans an extraordinary price range — from the accessible BeoSound Stage through to the BeoSound Theatre, one of the most expensive and technically sophisticated soundbars in the world. In late 2025, Bang & Olufsen added a third tier with the BeoSound Premiere, sitting neatly between the two.
Each soundbar shares the B&O commitment to design and audio quality, but they are emphatically not the same product at different prices. This guide explains exactly what you get at each level.
BeoSound Stage
The original B&O soundbar, launched in 2019. A strong performer with Dolby Atmos, Apple AirPlay 2, Chromecast, and Beolink Multiroom. A refined, if now-ageing, proposition.
BeoSound Premiere
The newest addition to the range. Sculpted from solid aluminium with Wide Stage Technology — a new patent-pending signal processing system that expands the soundstage far beyond the physical bar. Features Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 decoding, 90 responsive LEDs, and a striking up-firing tweeter with 1,925 precision-milled perforations.
BeoSound Theatre
The definitive B&O soundbar. A full 7.1.4-channel Dolby Atmos system in a single chassis, with motorised legs that can raise the bar to the ideal acoustic position. Paired B&O speakers can be added to create a full surround system.

DTS: A Notable Gap in the Premiere
The BeoSound Premiere does not decode DTS natively. If your content uses DTS audio (common on Blu-ray discs and some streaming services), it must be decoded by your TV or player and sent to the Premiere as PCM. This is worth knowing if you have a large physical media collection. The Stage and Theatre both handle DTS directly.
Wide Stage Technology
Unique to the Premiere, Wide Stage Technology is Bang & Olufsen's new patent-pending signal processing approach. It creates the perception of speakers beyond the physical boundaries of the bar — a notably wider soundstage than you'd expect from a single-chassis soundbar at any price.
The Theatre's Motorised Legs
The BeoSound Theatre includes motorised legs that raise and lower the bar automatically when you switch between TV watching and music listening, ensuring the tweeter is always at the optimal height for your ear position. It's one of those details that feels almost unnecessarily thoughtful — and exactly what justifies the Theatre's premium.
The value-focused choice
Still a genuinely excellent soundbar. Best suited to those entering the B&O ecosystem, living rooms up to ~35m², or buyers who want Dolby Atmos with full DTS support at the entry point.
Design meets performance
For buyers who want a sculptural design statement and genuinely immersive sound. The widest soundstage of the three, and the most visually striking. Best for streaming-first households.
The uncompromising choice
The Theatre is for dedicated home cinema rooms where nothing but the best will do. More raw capability than either sibling, and the only one with true motorised positioning.
For most buyers in 2025, the Premiere is the most compelling option.
It's the newest, the most thoughtfully engineered, and sits at a price point that, while not cheap, makes the Theatre's premium harder to justify for most living rooms. The Stage remains excellent value on the pre-owned market. The Theatre is for those who know they need it.
